33 cars were in attendance for the season opener. Among those cars, Matt Miller, Steve Casebolt, and Wayne Chinn where also in attendance. I drew a 54 which give me a 7th place starting spot in the fourth heat race. After 4 laps of the heat race I was already battling for the lead! I was able to win the heat race and draw a number one starting position for the feature. We made some adjustments to the racecar that really hurt us in the feature, but after 25 laps I was still able to maintain a 5th place finish. I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable in the Late Model and the more seat time I can get the better were going to be. Really excited for this season! Next race April 3rd at Attica Raceway Park.
Jon
Team JHR and Halcomb Racing are getting all geared up for the season opener at Attica Raceway Park this Friday night!
Everything wrapped up this weekend at Clarksville on a good note. Jon made his way from the 18th starting position in the Mod to finish 10th and also brought home a 3rd place finish in the Late Model.
Things are still going well with the Late Model. Jon won his heat and should start 4th in the feature. Even with a 2nd place finish last night in the mod something didn’t feel right with the car and is still not right yet. Jon spun out in his heat but he still made the feature but will have to come from the back of the field starting in 18th position.
Qualifying just wrapped up and Jon was 6th fastest in the mod and 4th fastest in the Late Model.
With night #1 in the books Jon had a 10th place finish in the Late Model and a 2nd place finish in the Mod.
Jon finished 4th in the Mod dash and will start 4th in the feature and he won his heat in the Late Model and will start 9th in the feature.
Qualifying is now over and Jon was 8th fastest in the Late Model and 6th fastest in the Mod.
We are headed to Clarksville TN this weekend with the Mod and the LM for the Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic.
I have finished and uploaded our 2009 Tentative Schedule. Check it out on the “tour” page
Clarksville has cancelled and is rescheduled for next weekend March 20th and 21st. So we will be attending Clarksville and not the Icebreaker at Brownstown.
Dew to the cold temperature a seven hour drive and a chance of rain all weekend at Clarksville, TN, we have made a decision to take this weekend off. Our game plan is to attend the Indiana Icebreaker at Brownstown Speedway next Saturday March 21st with the Late Model and Modified. If Clarksville cancels this weekend and reschedules for the following weekend we would attend there instead of the Ice Breaker. I will keep you updated. More dates will be added to the tour page soon.
We have added some of our upcoming tour dates. More to come soon.
This weekend was a big learning experience! Whether it could have been better or it could have been worse, I learned a lot from this weekend. Night #2 in the Mod started out rough again. I had to start at the tail of the heat race and when I was passing for 3rd I made a driver error and spun out. I had come from the back of the B-main once again to fight my way into the show. I started 28th in the feature and finished 15th. Can’t complain though because the car is still in one piece but we definitely had a top five racecar. The Late Model started out a little bit better then night #1 but I still struggled in qualifying. I had to start 10th in the 3rd heat race and was able to make a charge to a 6th place finish which I felt really good about. The more laps I made the more comfortable I got. I started 4th in the first B-main and had my most impressive run so far. I was able to hold of Dennis Erb jr for a second place finish and was able to advance to the A-main. My main goal coming into this weekend was to at least make a show in the LM and I successful reached that task! I then started 19th in the feature was up to 15th with still 20 laps to go and unfortunately had a valve cover come loose dripping oil on the headers making the car smoke. I had to pull off and settle with a 19th place finish. I tell you what though I made more laps around Kentucky lake this weekend than any other driver, and you can’t take away seat time. This weekend was a big stepping stone in the right direction and that’s something to be proud of. Not sure what our plans are for next weekend yet, Clarksville TN has been tossed around but I’ll keep everyone up to date when the word is final.
Tonight was up and down. With the Modified I started 8th in the fifth heat race, was passing for second when a car pushed up and hit my left front spinning us out causing a DNF. Then started at the tail of the B-main and finished fourth. Started 24th in the feature was running 13th and was spun out by Chad Kinder. Went to the tail and came back up to 13th. Very fast car just couldn’t catch a break. The Late Model didn’t start out so well either. I was taking it a little to easy, still had the Volusia wreck in the back of my mind. By the end of the heat race I felt a lot more comfortable. I started 17th in the first B and finished 9th. I’m glad we got this night out of the way. We have two very fast race cars and I’m ready to put them up front!
We have arrived at KY Lake Motor Speedway. Its cloudy and about 65 degrees but the weather looks good for tonight. We’ll keep you updated throughout the night.

Team JHR and Halcomb Racing are headed to Kentucky Lake to race the Modified and the Late Model Friday and Saturday Night. Updates will be posted each night!
