UMP National Late Model Rookie of the Year Jon Henry Readies for 2010

ADA, OH (3/31/10) – Jon Henry, the reigning UMP National Late Model Rookie of the Year, is piecing together his 2010 season and hopes to be on the track soon.

As the weather finally begins to take shape in northwest Ohio, so does Jon Henry’s plans for the 2010 racing season.  The defending Sunoco American Late Model Sereis (ALMS) Champion has purchased his own Super Late Model and intends to have it ready this spring.

“I’m really excited about this season and look forward to kicking it off in April,” Henry said.  “The plan is to race my UMP Modified around home for a few weeks while I finish getting the Late Model ready to go.  Other exciting news with Jon Henry Racing (JHR) is in the works and hopefully will be released in May.”

Henry, who parted ways with Bluffton-based Halcomb Racing during the off-season, was nothing short of spectacular in 2009, his first full year behind the wheel of a Late Model.  Dubbed “The Steel Driver”, Henry netted ten feature wins and 32 top five finishes which led to an 8th place finish in the final UMP National Late Model points tally.  Henry was also named the 2009 Rookie of the Year at Eldora Speedway and Oakshade Raceway.

After competing in February’s Florida Speedweeks in a University of Northwestern Ohio Modified, Henry plans to make his “northern” debut this Friday, April 2nd at the famed Eldora Speedway.  Currently, Henry is finalizing his 2010 plans behind the wheel of his own Late Model.  Although he doesn’t have a set schedule, the Ada, Ohio native hopes to have one finalized once his Late Model is complete.  Fans are encouraged to follow his website for upcoming races.

Back on board with JHR in 2010 will be the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) as well as Wide Open Graphics and William H. Bass Trucking.  In addition, Truman Quarter Horses, and Northstar Drilling are the newest supporters to join the team.  2010 Product sponsors include K&N Filters, Hooker Harness, Outerwears, Bell, Eibach Springs, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Hawk Performance, and QA1.
